I would love to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the current committee for an outstanding year. We've managed to increase money to all of our societies and sports teams, as well as giving loads back to all of our charities. Along side all of the events which have kept the medical school a formidable and renoun social hub and the spectacular MedSoc ball we are very proud of our achievements. We therefore thank each and every one of you for your love and support throughout the year, and I hope that this can all continue again next year under the guidance of the newly elected committee for 2011/12.

The Time In Between

By jeremy_lyen - Posted on 01 February 2011

Hi guys,

I know its been far too long since I've posted an update on the blog but we've all been working so hard lately, and even had a few exams as well.

Since before the Christmas break and the New Years, Jordan, the ball sec, along with the rest of us have been giving everything in making the spectacular MedSoc Ball something exceedingly special this year. The time, effort and sheer emotion that has gone into everything from the start, at imagining the concept, up until now, where everything has fallen into place deserves nothing but the greatest praise.

In the time in between we have hosted great events, from raising thousands for charities thanks to the unparalleled efforts of Emma and Charlotte; to the extremely successful post exam parties organised by Francis and John

MMD - Manchester Medics Dance

By medic-manny - Posted on 25 August 2010

Hi I'm Emmanuel (Manny) Co President of Manchester Medics Dance (MMD) and I want to tell you a bit about us.

MMD is a new society, started last semester about Feb time. It was something I had been thinking about for a while as I love to dance and be creative. So I spoke to Sophie (co president) who used to do ballet and some other bits and bobs and here we are.

Last semester we tried to keep it quite small involving just 2nd years (and a sneaky first year, who somehow found out about us) just to see if others were interested and it went really well. We put a couple of dances together a contemporary piece and a street dance (check the pics out), which with a little more work are going to look amazing.

We have no doubt that you've chosen and are entering one of the highly regarded, prestigious and most importantly FUN, medical schools and university in the country.

We all look forward to meeting you come September, but in the mean-time enjoy the rest of your summer holidays and have an amazing post-results part 2nite!!!

Summer Lovin'

By jeremy_lyen - Posted on 05 August 2010

Heya folks,

Well we're half-way through the summer now and I hope that everyone is having a fantastic break. Your MedSoc Committee has been working very hard over the last month to organise and bring yet another fantastic year ahead which I know you're all getting very excited about already.

So far, the MedSoc site has been updated to accept Paypal payments. Essentially, pay now and collect your MedSoc merchandise as soon as you arrive in the new term, you wont have to deal with the disappointment when our fantastic new hoodies sell out. The MedSoc Card will have hopefully undergo a fanctastic make-over and is also available online with incredible new deals!

We've also finished organising our Freshers and Clinical Fairs for you all to come down and check out what going on.

New MedSoc Committee - update

By jeremy_lyen - Posted on 16 June 2010

Hey everyone

having the semester end with a few great events organised by the Social Secretaries, Fancis and John, I hope that you are all now enjoying your summer holiday.

Just to keep everyone up-to-date with everything that's going on with your MedSoc Committee at the moment:

we're in the process of getting sponsorship deals with various companies in order to get the money required for next years medics ball (yes we're planning it already - infact already got the venue sorted but its all a bit shh at the moment).
