Preston Medsoc Committee 2009/10

Victoria Knott

President: Vik

Hi, I'm the gingerest member of the committee. I am your president for the next year so anything you want to chat about, anything you would like to improve or any ideas you have to make Preston even more wonderful than it already is (and it's fairly fabulous right now) come and find me and I will see what I can do.

I am a bit of a sporty kid and like cycling or running places and I can be found swimming at all times of the morning or night. I'm pretty loud and friendly , just come and talk to me if you can shut me up for long enough.

The committee and I are dedicated to making your time at Preston the best it can be and we already have loads of great things planned for this year so watch this space to see what's going on. I'm really excited to meet you all.

Ricki Sultan Solamian

Vice President: Ricki

Right guys, my name is Ricki and I will be Vice-President of the committee in Preston. My aim is to make you guys at home and organise memorable nights out (or not so memorable if they get a bit messy).

Me - I'm a bit of a joker and always up for some banter and a laugh. In the evenings you'll probably catch me in Lave, Manyanas, Browns, Roper... you get the drift, chances are I'll be out.

If you see me kicking around, give me a shout, I don't bite, honest

Emilie Nicholls

Secretary: Emilie

Hi everyone, I'm Emilie and I am the Secretary for this year's Preston Medsoc committee. So what's my role? ... Well my job within the committee is to take the minutes of all our meetings and make sure everyone is kept up to date with what is going on in Preston.

Some random facts about me - I am from Belfast, I'm a bit of a shop-a-holic, I drive an orange Clio and my ambition for the year is to play more tennis!

Matt Turner

Treasurer: Matt

I'm Matt and I'm the Treasurer. I take your money and save it up. My role is to make sure we have enough cash for our grad ball. What can i say, I'm stingy, it's in my nature. I live for numbers and don't get out much.

Adam Joghee

All right boys and girls, I'm Adam, one of the Social Secs on the Preston Medsoc committee. My partner in crime and I will be organising many events to ensure you enjoy your time here.

We will have something for everyone and we are always open to suggestions and ideas. Stay tuned to find out what we have in store for Preston "freshers" week!

Being in Preston doesn't mean you have to miss out, we will make sure you enjoy the best of both locations.

Megan and Jonny

Sports Secretaries: Megan and Jonny

Hello all! We're Megan and Jonny and we are the Sports Secretaries for Preston. We have many sports clubs that are just starting out, offering a great opportunities for all, from those experienced in a sport, who want to get involved in the organisation and running of a club, right through to absolute beginners wanting to try a new activity.

Between us we have a range of interests from sailing and climbing to football and cricket. We're here to help you guys develop, continue and expand on your sporting pastimes!

Ultimately we would like to see sport in Preston become as much a part of university life as it is in Manchester and St. Andrews.

We're friendly and approachable people, so any problems, questions or ideas (sports-related or otherwise), don't hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to meeting all of the 3rd years soon.

Charlotte Wade

Academic Representative: Charlotte

Hello, my name is Charlotte and I an the Academic Rep for Preston Medsoc. Come to me with any problems regarding your community or hospital placements, or anything else academic that you are struggling with.

I am very short so if you can't find me try looking down a bit. I like to talk a lot about anything and everything, especially TakeThat, Robbie Williams and Harry Potter. I love football, particularly Port Vale and I play for local 11 and 5 a side teams in Preston.

I will also be sitting on the Manchester MSRC committee to help co-ordinate our events with theirs, bring up and issues we have and just generally make sure Preston has a (nice loud) voice in Manchester.

Natasha Pillai

International Representative: Natasha

Hi there, I am your International Representative. I am South African and live in Basel, Switzerland where I attended an international school and spent two years in University before starting to study in the UK.

I have experienced the challenges of moving to a new country, speaking a foreign language and integrating into a new culture.

I, therefore, hope I can provide some advice and support to help make the move to Preston a little easier for other international students.
