Manchester Medics Rugby (MMRUFC)

Information

Group type:
Manchester Medics rugby club has a long and proud tradition on and off the field for Medics and Dentist in the University of Manchester.

We currently run two teams, the 1st XV play in the National Association of Medical Schools (NAMS) League with the 2nd XV playing in the Sunday Campus League, which we entered for the first time this year. There are approximately 45 regular members of the team. Training is held on Tuesdays (fitness) and on Thursdays in Carrington at Sale’s rugby training facilities.

This year has been one of the most successful of the clubs history, winning the NAMS plate competition and the University’s campus league.

Our initial aims for the year will be to recruit as many people from the medical school as possible to play rugby, this will boost our playing numbers and strengthen our squad. We are opening up our Tuesday night fitness sessions to the whole medical school, allowing all members of the medical school to participate in regular structured exercise. As always our main aim is to carry on the success we have had this year and gain more silverware for the medical school.
