Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)

MSF is an emergency humanitarian aid organisation that provides medical care, shelter, sanitation and food to people in crisis situations across the world.

Started in the 1970s by French doctors from the Red Cross fed up with political and bureaucratic limitations on delivering aid, MSF is known for its first in, last out….It is different from other organisations due to its policy of ‘témoinage’ or ‘bearing witness’ in which it speaks out against the atrocities it sees happening to people in dire circumstances. MSF has bases in many countries and employs people from lot of different trades including health care professionals, sanitation experts, and logisticians as well as local people in crisis areas who make up most of MSFs workers. Our Manchester committee aims to increase awareness about MSF through talks from MSF workers and other international aid figures and to raise money in whatever fun and exciting ways we can think of!
