Volunteer first aid for events

St John Ambulance has a long and detailed history - dating back over 900 years to Jerusalem. Now, St john currently dedicate more than 5 million hours of service to the community each year, training over 500,000 people in first aid.

The brand new medical student unit based in Preston entitled "Moor Park Unit" has been running successfully for one year. Currently we run fortnightly evening sessions, in which you will be updated with current events and also trained in first aid to better your skills.

By being part of St John, you will learn the basic skills often missed in your medical training such as bandaging, dressing wounds and dealing with fractures. It enables an early, hands on, experience of thinking independently and assessing a situation. It relays the importance of prioritisation of casualty treatment in a mass-casualty emergency. Being a member of St John is a highly favoured attribute in Foundation job application.

To sum up, St John is a worthwhile experience, encourages thinking and acting like a doctor and is a truly worthwhile experience.
